
THE BROILER HATCHING EGG SECTOR IS A HIGHLY SPECIALIZED INDUSTRY THAT IS AT THE FOUNDATION OF CANADA'S CHICKEN INDUSTRY
In 2024, British Columbia produced over 9,529,000 dozen broiler hatching eggs valued at an estimated $70.7 million. That contributed to the 266.3 million kilograms (live weight) of chicken produced for consumption in our province.
British Columbia is the third largest hatching egg producing province supplying approximately 15% of the Canadian market share.
The hatching egg producers throughout the province boast family owned farms and practice strict protocols for safe, healthy, happy birds.

The attached draft documents reflect this work and outline both strategic direction and operational focus. The following documents are provided for your review: Executive Summary Regulatory Enhancements – Quota Policy Review (SP 1.2) Regulatory Enhancements – New Producer Program (SP 1.3) Regional Diversification (SP 3) As we move toward implementation, the Commission welcomes stakeholder input to ensure these initiatives are practical, informed, and aligned with industry needs.
